Blessed by the Gods of Bali, protected by their guardians,
Rusa Biru is a retreat, a quiet gift, a sense of gratitude
and a piece of love.
Wide shots for the architecture. Small, quiet details for the way it actually feels. The house is at its best in the in-between.

Bali is Hindu, and the faith lives in how a tray is set down, how a guest is received. Every morning at Rusa Biru begins with canang sari — woven offerings of rice, flowers, and incense placed at the gate and the shrine. The day is asked for its blessing.
Wayu and her team of four have kept the house as if it were their own — quiet, exacting, professional.

Rates shift with the season — and with how busy we are. Check our latest rates & availability, or book, on either:
Whole villa only · up to 8 guests · 4 ensuite rooms. Taxes, WiFi, free-flow water, tea & coffee included.
Rusa Biru loves a family. Upstairs, the family room pairs a queen with its own bunk bed — easy for children and teenagers, and grown-ups too.
Children four and under stay free, sharing their parents' bed. One cot is here and yours at no charge; any extra cots can be hired at Rp 150,000 a day. We're happiest with up to eight adults in the house — beyond that, just have a word with us first.
Rusa Biru sits at the end of a quiet gang, tucked off the main road yet minutes from the best of Canggu. Close enough to wander out for coffee or supper, far enough that the neighbourhood stays a neighbourhood.
Rusa Biru has chosen Secluded Bali Villas as its Sales & Marketing Partner. Every message below reaches their team directly.
The land. Canggu sits on volcanic earth — soft alluvial soil, with riverbeds running close beneath. Rusa Biru is held between two tukads, small rivers flowing quiet at the front and back of the land.
To build here, you start by going down. The foundations rest on volcanic rock laid down by Mount Batur thirty thousand years ago. The water comes from deeper still — rain that fell on the central highlands, gathered into Lake Batur, filtered for centuries through that same stone before it surfaces in the well.
Nature contributes. The house answers.
The drawings. The first conceptual lines came from Glenn Parker — an Australian architect with a poet's eye for light and proportion. It was the last house he ever drew.
I Nyoman Trisna Suryanta, a Balinese architect of rare talent, rooted those drawings in the island — its woods, its weather, its rhythm, down to every detail. I Ketut Alit Adnyana, the contractor, carried it from paper to beam.
The opening. Sixteen months passed between the first cut and the last carved door. The doors first opened in 2018.
Since then, the house has been kept by I Dewa Ayu Mayun Trisna — Wayu, to everyone who knows her — and her team of four. She is capable, exacting, and unhurried; her work is the kind that disappears into the day, leaving it better. Guests remember her name long after they remember the pool. Many write home to ask after Wayu before they ask after the bookings.
Blessed daily. Bali is Hindu, and the faith lives in how a tray is set down, how a guest is received. Every morning at Rusa Biru begins with canang sari — small woven palm baskets of rice, flowers, and incense, placed at the gate, the shrine, the foot of the rusa deer. The day is asked for its blessing.
The going on. Wood darkens with the years. The frangipani by the gate grows taller than the gate. Pool tiles read green some mornings, blue most afternoons. A door swells in the wet months and finds its frame by September.
What doesn't change: the morning light on the bale. The weather rolling off Mount Batur. The neighbours' wave at the lane. The pleasure of a table set for friends and family. These only deepen.
